About The Position

American Specialty Health, Inc. is seeking a Scrum Master I to work with our Information Technology – Software department. This position will support a development team and product owner. The Scrum Master I will be the facilitator for an agile development team and work closely with the team to ensure quality products are produced as efficiently as possible. Salary Range American Specialty Health complies with state and federal wage and hour laws and compensation depends upon candidate’s qualifications, education, skill set, years of experience, and internal equity. $56,700 to $85,000 Full-Time Annual Salary Range. Remote Worker Considerations Candidates who are selected for this position will be trained remotely and must be able to work from home (WFH) in a designated work area with company-provided technology equipment. This remote/WFH position requires you have a stable connection to your Internet Service Provider with the ability to participate by video in online meetings over a reliable and consistent network (minimum internet download of 50 Mbps and 10 Mbps upload speed. 100 down/20 up is recommended to support higher quality video meetings).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Business, or equivalent experience. If equivalent experience, high school diploma required.
  • 1-2 years of experience in the Scrum Master role for a software development team that was diligently applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory.
  • Knowledge of Scrum Management, Sprint and Release planning.
  • Knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency.
  • Knowledge of common reporting paradigms for Agile/Scrum performance.
  • Ability to identify key stakeholders and work collaboratively with them to remove blockers that may be impeding the scrum teams progress.
  • Knowledge of one or more other agile methodologies (Lean, Kanban, XP, TDD, CI, Test Automation) and how they can be applied in a product development / program delivery environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact in a positive, respectful manner and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • Ability to display excellent customer service to meet the needs and expectations of both internal and external customers.
  • Excellent listening and interpersonal communication skills to identify critical core competencies based on success factors and organizational environment.
  • Ability to effectively organize, prioritize, multi-task and manage time.
  • Demonstrated accuracy and productivity in a changing environment with constant interruptions.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze information, problems, issues, situations and procedures to develop effective solutions.
  • Ability to exercise strict confidentiality in all matters.
  • Primarily sedentary, able to sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to speak, see and hear other personnel and/or objects. Ability to communicate both in verbal and written form. Ability to travel within the facility. Capable of using a telephone and computer keyboard. Ability to lift up to 10 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures the development team(s) is operating as efficiently as possible and guides the team through reflection and continuous improvement and facilitates the key ceremonies of agile scrum.
  • Provides guidance to the team on a regular basis to ensure that the team is aligned with the organization in the processes to develop, release and maintain products.
  • Serves and supports the Product Owner and Development Team in their quest to do everything possible to meet the needs of the customers.
  • Provides support to the team using a servant leadership style.
  • Facilitates the scrum ceremonies including planning, stand-ups, retrospectives and grooming.
  • Removes impediments or guides the team to remove impediments by finding the right personnel to remove the impediment.
  • Facilitates discussions, decision making, and conflict resolution.
  • Assists with internal and external communication, improves transparency, and radiating information.
  • Supports the Product Owner, especially with respect to refining (aka grooming) and managing the product backlog.
  • Assists the Scrum Team with evaluating proper metrics to measure the performance of the team.
