About The Position

The Scrub Technician, also known as an Operating Room Technician or Surgical Technologist, is responsible for assisting surgeons, nurses, and other surgical team members during operative procedures. The Scrub Tech ensures that the operating room environment is sterile, instruments are prepared and available, and surgical procedures run efficiently and safely.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 1 year of Operating Room experience required
  • Experience in hospital or surgical center setting required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program preferred
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies.
  • Set up the operating room according to procedure requirements.
  • Ensure all sterile supplies and instruments are available and functioning properly.
  • Verify surgical case details, patient information, and required equipment.
  • Maintain strict sterile technique at all times.
  • Assist the surgeon by passing instruments, sutures, and supplies during procedures.
  • Maintain sterile field throughout the surgery.
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team.
  • Handle surgical specimens properly according to facility protocol.
  • Monitor and ensure surgical equipment is functioning correctly.
  • Assist with cleaning and restocking the operating room.
  • Properly dispose of contaminated materials.
  • Prepare instruments for reprocessing and sterilization.
  • Ensure operating room is ready for the next procedure.
