About The Position

Requirements

• Completion of 2-3 years of college course work towards a bachelor's degree in Pre-med, Nursing, or Physician Assistant.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience utilizing emergency medicine medical terminology.
• Computer proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Follow the emergency physician into the patient's room and enter information into a computer using a specially designed template.
• Record the patient's medical history, reason for the visit, and results of the physical exam as dictated by the physician.
• Enter orders for lab tests and x-rays, and record the results of diagnostic tests.
• Assist the physician and nurse in keeping track of the patient in the emergency department (ED).
• Document physical examination findings and procedures performed by the physician.
• Document the correct time of patient care-related activities, including physician-to-physician communication and family communication.
• Participate in 'chart rounds' with the physician to review patient status and care-related issues.
• Refer all patient care requests to the responsible physician or nursing staff.
