About The Position

The Scribe assists the doctor by transcribing appropriate data into the patient medical record during the patient exam in order to optimize the doctor’s time with patients. This position will also assist the technician by performing various administrative and clinical functions, including obtaining patient histories, performing preliminary and ancillary testing, scheduling patients, and preparing the exam room. Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in optometry is preferred.
  • Proficient in EHR, including exceptional keyboarding skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Quality of work reflects efficiency and accuracy
  • Ability to obtain knowledge and skills on the job or through educational courses

Responsibilities

  • During the exam, accurately enter information into EHR as dictated by the doctor.
  • Assist optometrist and ophthalmologist with patient procedures.
  • Escort the patient to Optical and introduce to the Optician, reiterating the doctor’s recommendations.
  • Coordinate patient scheduling and monitor patient flow throughout the office, properly communicating delays.
  • Prepare exam room by cleaning instruments and maintaining inventory of medications and supplies.
  • Provide a safe, clean, organized and inviting environment for both patients and staff.
  • Perform other duties and assume various responsibilities as determined by leadership.
