About The Position

The Scribe accompanies the physician into the patient exam room in order to transcribe a history, physical exam, patient instructions, disposition, and document accurately the physician's encounter with the patient and others present. The position requires basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, surgery, diagnostic tests, pharmacology, and the various medical specialties. The Scribe must display a professional appearance and conduct while promoting an atmosphere of mutual respect and cooperation. Additionally, the Scribe is expected to maintain and demonstrate an understanding of the team approach to patient care and documentation, as well as knowledge of organizational policies and computer applications. Proficiency in navigating the electronic medical record is essential. Excellent time management, organization, and communication skills (both written and verbal) are required. The Scribe must also demonstrate an ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy in accordance with governing regulations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Completion of a medical terminology course or one year of medical terminology experience in a clinical setting preferred.
