The Scribe accompanies the physician into the patient exam room in order to transcribe a history, physical exam, patient instructions, disposition, and document accurately the physician's encounter with the patient and others present.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Completion of a medical terminology course or one year medical terminology experience in a clinical setting preferred.
• Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, surgery, diagnostic tests, pharmacology, and various medical specialties.
• Excellent time management, organization, and communication skills (written and verbal).
• Knowledge of organizational policies and computer applications.

Responsibilities

• Transcribe a history, physical exam, patient instructions, and disposition during physician encounters.
• Maintain and demonstrate an understanding of the team approach to patient care and documentation.
• Navigate the electronic medical record proficiently.
• Display professional appearance and conduct while promoting an atmosphere of mutual respect and cooperation.
• Maintain confidentiality and privacy in accordance with governing regulations.
