About The Position

The School of Community Resources and Development (SCRD) in the Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions at Arizona State University invites applications for Faculty Associate positions during the 2025-2026 academic year. Faculty Associates are part-time, adjunct faculty who are hired on one-semester, renewable contracts to teach one or two courses (not to exceed 0.40 FTE) per semester, either in-person or online. Faculty Associate positions are fixed-term appointments that are not eligible for benefits, sabbaticals, or tenure. Salary is based upon qualifications and assigned teaching load. Official transcripts are required prior to employment. Individuals employed as Faculty Associates may not hold multiple, non-benefits eligible appointments at Arizona State University. For this position, we seek to attract a pool of candidates who will teach one or two undergraduate or graduate in-person and/or online courses in Special Events Management and who is a content matter expert in the course topic. The courses in the Special Event Management program include Introduction to Special Events Management; Special Event On-Site Operations and Logistics; Food and Beverage; Revenue Generation; Advanced Special Events Management; Entertainment, Event Technology, Protocol and Programming for Special Events; and Event Marketing and Promotion. Requirements

  • An earned master’s degree in parks and recreation, events, conventions, and meeting planning or a related field from an accredited institution, by the time of appointment.
  • Three years of related experience (prior teaching and/or practitioner experience).
  • Consistent with ASU’s Charter , a demonstrated commitment to inclusion.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior higher education teaching or guest lecturing experience preferred.
  • Experience facilitating student-led classroom discussions.
  • Prior online teaching experience.
  • Evidence of effective collaboration skills.
  • Experience with technology/course management systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
