The NSAR scrap inspector is responsible for the safe operation of the scrap yard. This includes inspecting scrap for known hazards, ensuring the scrap piles are maintained and clean, and ensuring the scrap line is laid out according to our scrap layering. Scrap inspectors must understand the basic functions of our EAF operation in relation to scrap layering, and scrap recipes. They are also responsible for knowing and helping maintain accurate scrap inventories. Lastly, scrap inspectors are responsible for effectively communicating with our contractor teammates and holding them accountable for their scrap handling performance. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
