About The Position

The Laurel Hills Community Center is seeking Scorekeepers for the Basketball Season. The season runs from December until February/March. We are located at 3808 Edwards Mill Road, Raleigh. Scorekeepers are an integral part of the sports community, ensuring that games are played fairly and efficiently. Scorekeepers must be attentive to the game being played, accurately track the score in the method provided, monitor rosters and maintain the playing space. They work closely with officials to ensure fair play and accurate records. Scorekeepers may work with youth and adult leagues.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Basic understanding of sports rules and gameplay.
• Reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Recording all scores and other relevant information accurately on the official score sheet and the scoreboard.
• Managing the game clock to ensure accurate timing.
• Maintaining accurate player roster information, including names, numbers, time played and eligibility.
• Communicating with coaches, referees, and staff to clarify rules and ensure the smooth flow of the game.
• Setting up the facility prior to the game and cleaning up at the end.
• Monitor and maintain a safe playing environment, adhering to all facility rules and regulations. Report any issues or incidents to the supervisor promptly.
