The Scope Processing Tech cleans and disinfects, using high-level disinfection, a variety of endoscopes and accessories. Is responsible for maintaining proper function and integrity of all endoscopes and equipment in the processing room. This is an advanced role building upon the skills and experience gained from a Scope Technician I. Maintains a detailed understanding of endoscopy procedures, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards, including the theoretic basis for operating standards. The scope technician II has a broader scope of responsibilities, including completes tasks such as performing departmental quality assurance audits and documentation into instrument management system, tracking data logs, ordering supplies as needed through supply chain process in place. Coordinates repair of scopes and manages loaners with the vendor and supply chain. Additionally, may also take on the role of a preceptor, providing guidance and training to new or existing scope technicians.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
  • Minimum three (3) years endoscopic instrument processing experience required.
  • Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (CFER) from Certification Board for Sterile Processing Distribution (CBSPD) OR Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) from Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA).

Responsibilities
