About The Position

The Manufacturing Scodix Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining Scodix digital embellishment equipment to produce high-quality printed materials, monitoring its performance, and making adjustments as needed to maintain optimal production processes in a manufacturing environment. Additionally, this role ensures that production targets are met while maintaining high-quality standards and adhering to safety protocols.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in printing or manufacturing is a plus.
Previous experience operating Scodix or similar digital embellishment machines preferred.
Strong attention to detail and ability to perform quality inspections.
Basic understanding of mathematics, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, is required.
Ability to follow numerical order and maintain sequence continuity.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Basic understanding of production processes and safety standards.
Good communication skills and ability to work in a team.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
Computer skills for data entry and reporting.

Visual acuity to read fine print on documents and screens.

Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the manufacturing facility.
Frequent movement within the production area to supervise and assist team members.
Ability to lift and carry a certain number of full sheets of material with great care, with a total weight ranging from approximately 35 to 40 pounds, depending on the type of material.
Occasional lifting of heavier items with the assistance of equipment or team members.
Regular bending, stooping, and kneeling to inspect machinery, perform maintenance tasks, and handle materials.
Flexibility to work in low positions and confined spaces as needed.
Frequently reaching overhead and below shoulder level to access materials and operate machinery.
Manual dexterity to handle small parts and tools accurately.
Ability to push and pull carts, equipment, and materials as needed within the production area.
Regular use of PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, ear protection, and safety shoes.
Compliance with all safety protocols and regulations regarding PPE usage.
Exposure to a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures, noise levels, and potential hazards.
Tolerance for working in conditions that may include dust, fumes, and strong odors.
Endurance to work extended hours, including overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays as production demands.
Ability to remain alert and focused during long shifts and high-pressure situations.

Responsibilities

Operate the Scodix machine to execute digital embellishment processes such as UV coating, foiling, and embossing, the machine is used to apply various high value finishes to printed materials.
Set up the machine, including loading and aligning materials, adjusting settings, and performing test runs.
Monitor machine performance, including speed, temperature, and pressure, and make adjustments as necessary.
Load and unload materials, ensuring proper alignment and pressure during the process.
Ensure that production processes are running at peak efficiency, with minimal downtime and waste.
Monitor the production process to ensure it runs smoothly and efficiently, adjusting as needed.
Identify and troubleshoot any issues or defects, such as misalignment, inconsistencies, or machine malfunctions.
Inspect finished products for quality and accuracy, including checking for proper embellishment and adherence to design specifications.
Continuously monitor the process to detect and correct any deviations from quality standards.
Document and report any deviations or quality issues to the Production Supervisor.
Make necessary adjustments to the machine to correct any issues and maintain high-quality standards.
Perform basic troubleshooting to resolve minor issues with the Scodix system, including power settings and software errors.
Conduct routine maintenance on the Scodix machine, such as cleaning lenses and checking laser alignment.
Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and others.
Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and ensure that safety guards and devices are in place and functional.
Report any safety hazards or incidents to the appropriate personnel immediately.
Identify and troubleshoot issues with machinery or products, and report problems to supervisors or maintenance teams.
Maintain accurate and detailed records of production activities, including output quantities, machine settings, downtime and any issues encountered.
Complete production logs and quality control reports as required.
Report any equipment malfunctions, material defects, or safety concerns to the supervisor immediately.
Report shortages or discrepancies to supervisors to ensure continuous production.
Work closely with other operators, technicians, and supervisors to achieve production goals and resolve issues.
Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments to ensure smooth workflow and address any production issues.
Participate in training programs to stay current with industry standards and company procedures.
Assist in training new operators in Scodix machine use and safety practices.
