The Informatics and Predictive Sciences (IPS) mission is to Pioneer, Partner and Predict to drive transformative insights for patient benefit. IPS conducts applied computational research in areas that include genomic, structural and molecular informatics, computational and systems biology, patient selection and translational biomarker research, and broader fields including knowledge science, epidemiology and machine learning—across the full lifecycle of drug discovery and development and across all therapeutic areas at BMS. Scientist, Translational Informatics and Predictive Sciences The Scientist will apply cutting-edge bioinformatics, statistical, modeling, and computational biology approaches to analyze large-scale clinical datasets and drive translational insights across the BMS portfolio. This role focuses on both clinical and real-world patient datasets to discover biomarkers, elucidate disease biology, and inform development strategies for the pipeline. The scientist will have a direct impact on advancing therapies for patients and accelerating scientific understanding of disease biology and therapeutic response.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree 5+ years of academic / industry experience Or Master's Degree 3+ years of academic / industry experience Or PhD No experience required

Nice To Haves

  • Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computational biology, machine learning, engineering, genetics, statistics, cancer biology, immunology, or related field.
  • Experience with high-throughput molecular data, such as next-generation sequencing, single-cell technologies, proteomics, and/or flow cytometry.
  • Proficiency in R and/or Python, with hands-on experience leveraging agentic AI coding tools required.
  • Prior experience with either single-cell and/or spatial technologies or with machine learning/AI methods strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience in oncology preferred.
  • Solid understanding of fundamental statistical methods.
  • Growth mindset with a passion for continuous learning.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, creativity, and scientific rigor.
  • Good communication, data visualization, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with biomarker scientists, clinical development teams, and preclinical researchers to design and execute bioinformatics strategies for clinical and translational studies.
  • Analyze high-dimensional molecular datasets to generate mechanistic insights into treatment response and resistance.
  • Apply and/or develop ML/AI methods to extract patterns from multi-omics and real-world datasets, including predictive modeling, feature selection, and data integration across modalities.
  • Leverage patient-level datasets to shape development strategies, clinical trial hypotheses, and target selection.
  • Build reproducible, well-documented analytical workflows and contribute to scalable pipelines.
  • Summarize results and communicate actionable findings to decision-making bodies across R&D, as well as external scientific audiences.
