About The Position

The Pathology team is seeking a Molecular Pathology Scientist. Experience performing and evaluating immunohistochemistry and/or in situ hybridization is essential. Interpretation of labeled specimens requires an understanding of anatomy and histology and an ability to identify specific cell populations in tissue sections. Quantitative morphometrics and/or AI-assisted image analysis will be a component of the role. Multiple imaging modalities will be employed including chromogenic and multiplex fluorescence microscopy, spatial-seq, and when applicable confocal and electron microscopy. This position is onsite and will be primarily located in Cambridge, MA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in life sciences field with 8+ years of laboratory experience.
  • ASCP Histotechnician certification(s).
  • Experience performing and evaluating immunohistochemistry and/or in situ hybridization is essential.
  • Interpretation of labeled specimens requires an understanding of anatomy and histology and an ability to identify specific cell populations in tissue sections.
  • Experience routinely demonstrating initiative that has a direct impact on the pathology labs operation, improvement and refinement.
  • Ability to communicate and present complex scientific information to scientific and non- scientific audiences.
  • Ability to make decisions autonomously and requires minimal guidance to perform job duties.
  • Communicate openly and directly with laboratory group, departmental and cross-functional scientific groups, and management.
  • Proven project management skill set, evidenced by history of successful project delivery and successful timelines completed.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct antibody optimization for immunohistochemistry.
  • Perform immunohistochemical and in-situ hybridization procedures to include multiomic staining protocols using the Leica BOND and/or Discovery ULTRA staining platform.
  • Analyze and evaluate assays for sensitivity and specificity.
  • Mount, label and distribute or scan prepared microscope slides to pathologists or to appropriate areas for interpretation.
  • Quantitative morphometrics and/or AI-assisted image analysis will be a component of the role. Multiple imaging modalities will be employed including chromogenic and multiplex fluorescence microscopy, spatial-seq, and when applicable confocal and electron microscopy.
  • Responsible for maintaining reagents, preventative maintenance procedures and troubleshooting for relevant equipment.
  • Proficiency in tissue trimming/embedding and microtome/cryostat tissue sectioning.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance and SOPs.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with the research group and broadly with other departments throughout the company.
  • Ensures compliance and alignment with all EH and S initiatives within the Molecular Pathology Laboratory.
  • Operateswithin a quality management system and collaborates with quality assurance and regulatory team to improve laboratory processes, optimize methods, and develop quality analytics.
  • Experience with online ordering of lab materials, reagents, as well as maintaining inventory of lab supplies.
  • Ensure ELN (electronic lab notebooks) are kept up to date in a complete and consistent manner, following all legal requirements as well as keeping clear and complete record.
  • Support validation of new assays and instruments for molecular histology.
  • Maintain knowledge of scientific technological developments by reading the current literature and attending professional conferences to develop innovative concepts, which may lead to new assays, equipment requests, and/or procedures.
  • Participate in planning and execution of Early Development (eDEV) and Research projects.
  • In collaboration with pathologists, may present experimental results to senior scientific staff.
  • May prepare and/or contribute to articles for publication.
  • Develop relationships with teams within eDEV and broader ReDev (Research Development) to enhance collaboration and streamline processes.
  • Build collaborative relationships among team members and work cooperatively with others.
  • Adapt well to change, and function well with ambiguity.
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage conflict.
