About The Position

SonoThera is a venture capital-backed early-stage biopharmaceutical company developing ultra-sound-guided non-viral targeted gene therapies to treat multiple diseases of high unmet need. SonoThera uses a collaborative, interdisciplinary, and forward-thinking approach to solving many of the current challenges facing genetic medicine discovery and drug development. SonoThera is headquartered in South San Francisco, CA. The Gene Therapy group at SonoThera is seeking to hire a Scientist I (temporary) to become an integral part of the gene therapy drug development effort. We seek candidates who think critically and have the desire and ability to learn new techniques. This position requires adaptability and an ability to perform at a high level in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will leverage their mass spectrometry and chromatography expertise to develop assays in support of SonoThera’s gene therapy programs. This is a 7-month full-time contract role.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. with 0-3 years, M.S. with 6+ years, or B.S. with 8+ years of industry experience in analytical chemistry, chemical biology, biochemistry or a related field
  • Creativity and the ability to work within an interdisciplinary team to achieve technical and corporate milestones
  • Strong verbal and written communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with ELNs (ie: Benchling)
  • Strong record-keeping and organizational skills

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge with recombinant protein downstream purification and characterization
  • Familiarity with Olink-based proteomics, MSD, Western blot, metabolomics and unbiased proteomics analysis

Responsibilities

  • Develop targeted proteomic assays to support drug product characterization
  • Use LC-MS QQQ/QTrap for MRM/SRM analysis (Shimadzu, Agilent, Waters, ExionLC AE, Sciex), including method development, routine instrument maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Analyze quantitative proteomics data using proteomics analysis software (Skyline, SciexOS) and bioinformatics tools for protein and peptide quantification
  • Research literature and external sources to identify new techniques and procedures
