Instructor Position in Shoulder Biomechanical modeling. The Leon Root Motion Analysis Laboratory at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan, New York ( https://www.hss.edu/rehab-motion-analysis-lab.asp ) is looking for a research scientist at an instructor level to work in a competitive research laboratory. The Instructor position involves design and development of sophisticated musculoskeletal models for research in shoulder biomechanics modelling and specifically in the area of shoulder joint arthroplasty. The research position will require collaboration with scientists, biomechanical engineers, and orthopaedic surgeons. The position requires the ability to work both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary research team. They must manage all aspects of research projects, including: study design and setup, complex computer simulations, manuscript and report writing, advanced data and statistical analyses. Candidates must have a minimum degree of PhD in Biomechanics and at least 2 years of post-doctoral training with preferred experience in musculoskeletal modeling. The candidate will work primarily in the development and automation of joint arthroplasty musculoskeletal models, Finite Element Analysis methods and integrating imaging and functional data into customized models. Experience in MATLAB and Python code development is required; previous experience in shoulder Biomechanical modelling and Finite Element Analysis is highly favorable. Additional experience in Mimics (or other imaging 3D reconstruction software) will also be preferred. The Instructor position is for 3 years (2 + 1 years depending on performance evaluation) and salary range is from $95,000 - $105,000 depending on skills and experience.
