About The Position

Scientist III leads complex research projects, designs innovative assays, and provides strategic input to the R&D team. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and contribute to the advancement of our genetic testing technologies. The Research and Development group at Myriad Genetics is responsible for creating and updating a portfolio of cancer tests. The role requires individuals who are aware of both the clinical and molecular aspects of the various genes, mutational mechanisms and diseases that we work with. This position will require both strong bench and analytical skills to design, execute and analyze experiment in cfDNA and NGS fields.

Requirements

  • Must meet one of the following education and experience requirements: 1. B.S. with 10+ years of industry experience in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science.
  • M.S. with 8+ years of industry experience in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science.
  • Ph.D. with 4+ years of industry experience in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science.
  • Expertise in molecular biology techniques that include DNA and RNA extraction, Next Generation Sequencing laboratory workflows, laboratory automation, and informatics analysis. Experience with cell-free DNA workflows such as MRD highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and launching assays into a clinical setting.
  • Excellent technical communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong leadership and project management skills.
  • Applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder)

Nice To Haves

  • Proven track record of scientific publications and presentations preferred.
  • Comfort with command-line analytical tools, bash and Python preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform the experimental design, execution, data collection, and data analysis of molecular assays that utilize next generation sequencing (NGS) and other methodologies for analyzing cfDNA, DNA and RNA.
  • Lead the design, development, and optimization of existing and new advanced, molecular assays.
  • Manage and execute complex research projects from conception to completion.
  • Analyze, interpret, and present high-level experimental data to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate molecular biology with automated and data-driven systems.
  • Ensure good documentation practices for assay development, validation, quality assurance, technical investigations, and operational support of molecular diagnostic tests in a highly regulated clinical laboratory environment.
  • Maintain familiarity with the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures.
