Additionally, this role will be the interface with customers, R&D and the McCormick commercial teams, assisting in responding to specific project requests. The Scientist II will leverage the development of new flavors/ingredients and new methodologies and contribute to technically driven business development activities in the Beverage Flavor applications area.

Requirements

  • BSc in Food Science/Technology, Food Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field
  • 5 - 8 years’ experience in the food and/or flavor industry with preferably: 2 yrs. of Beverage Flavor applications in a flavor house AND/OR 2 yrs. of Beverage Product Development within a consumer products company.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Team spirit and service-oriented mindset.
  • Project management experience, accurate, rigorous, and well organized.
  • Ability to interpret data and solve problems with incomplete information.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work across the organization and with colleagues at different locations.
  • An understanding of ingredients and technology along with their impact on product taste and functionality.
  • Knowledge of food industry food ingredients, manufacturing processes, quality assurance programs and food regulations.
  • Pro-active, autonomous, able to take initiatives and solve problems.
  • Intellectual curiosity and flexibility.
  • Supports and embraces change while continuing to improve technical and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Selection and evaluation of flavor performance in application by applying those in existing beverage application recipes according to regulatory, cost, customer, and beverage requirements.
  • Develops new beverage application formulas and flavor concepts according to the newest industry standards.
  • Execute and lead projects effectively and efficiently from brief to submission in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Capable of handling multiple projects at the same time in a methodical manner, with short deadlines.
  • Be the technical contact for specific clients and key categories and prepare and deliver technical presentations to customers.
  • Participate in clients meetings and visits.
  • Investigate and assess new ingredients and technologies.
