About The Position

The Scientist I position at CEVA Animal Health is responsible for providing both general and molecular support for poultry and swine coccidiosis programs. This role involves overseeing laboratory activities, applying traditional and molecular biology techniques, and collaborating with veterinarians and sales teams to deliver technical support to customers. The position requires a strong background in parasitology and molecular biology, as well as the ability to design and lead experimental trials.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Parasitology or related field.
  • Master's degree in Parasitology or related discipline preferred, with 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in a science-related field, with 5+ years of experience in a diagnostic or parasitology laboratory setting.
  • In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with coccidian life cycles and related laboratory techniques.
  • Strong foundation in molecular biology techniques, including qPCR and next-generation sequencing (NGS).
  • Solid understanding of general microbiology principles and practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in technical writing for USDA reports and research papers.
  • Proficiency in advanced statistical tools for veterinary and animal health research.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee laboratory activities and contribute to departmental functions including project planning and budgeting.
  • Develop extensive knowledge of coccidian life cycles and relevant laboratory techniques.
  • Create training materials and author standard operating procedures (SOPs) for parasitology.
  • Assist on cross-functional projects ensuring smooth execution and collaboration across departments.
  • Compile and organize research results, delivering clear reports for clients.
  • Design and lead experimental trials, ensuring scientific rigor and adherence to best practices.
  • Analyze and assemble whole genome sequencing data, focusing on genetic variation analyses.
  • Engage in cross-training with internal teams to enhance collaboration and skill sets.
