About The Position

The Scientist I position is a full-time appointment in the laboratory of Dr. Alexey Glukhov within the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, Department of Medicine, at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The University of Wisconsin-Madison is a leading public research institution with a strong commitment to biomedical research, education, and clinical innovation. The Department of Medicine supports a broad range of basic and translational research programs aimed at improving human health. Dr. Glukhov’s laboratory is part of the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine and focuses on understanding mechanisms of heart rhythm disorders and regulation of cardiac function. The primary purpose of the Scientist I position is to support ongoing cardiovascular research projects by conducting laboratory-based experiments, analyzing data, and contributing to the communication of research findings. The Scientist I will perform electrophysiological studies and pharmacological testing on isolated, Langendorff-perfused mouse and rat hearts, as well as isolated mouse and rat atrial preparations, under various physiological conditions, including neurohormonal, mechanical, and drug-based stimulation. These studies are conducted using established experimental methods to evaluate heart electrical activity, calcium signaling, and mechanical function. The Scientist I will collect, organize, analyze, and document research data in accordance with established policies and procedures, working under general supervision. The position includes preparing research summaries, reports, and manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals, presenting research findings at local and national scientific meetings, and conducting reviews of relevant scientific literature.
