About The Position

Biogen's Gene Therapy Cell Line Development group is searching for an individual to act as a contributing manager and technical leader for the Cell Line Development group. This individual manages a group of 2-3 employees responsible for the generation of cell lines and plasmids that support early and late stage programs. The team is also responsible for scientific and technical innovations and implementation and driving development, shortening timelines and improving methodologies as the industry evolves. This person work with other groups within the Gene Therapy and Research Departments to ensure programs transition smoothly. This individual will also drive appropriate innovation and technical investments as well as harmonization of lab operations, equipment, automation, and workflow optimization within the group.

Requirements

• 3+ years' experience, after graduate work, in cell line development, cell culture development, and/or related areas.
• Expertise in vector construction, molecular biology, cell line generation and screening techniques/systems.

Responsibilities

• Manages small team to execute cell line development and vector design activities for clinical and commercial gene therapy programs. Ensures that the team meets timelines, openly communicates across functions, and maintains a good working environment.
• The candidate will be expected to contribute to cell line innovation and vector production strategies to enhance AAV production productivity and shorten cell line development timelines. Engages in internal collaborations with other Gene Therapy or Technical Development groups to achieve objectives and implement scientific advancements in the Gene Therapy field.
• Provides technical expertise on topics pertaining to cell line development and the associated regulatory and CMC aspects. Presents findings and/or results to senior management, external stakeholders, and industry peers at conferences.
• This candidate will be expected to provide mentoring to their direct reports and guide their career development. Ensures that group maintains proper and updated training.
