About The Position

The AbbVie Process Chemistry Chromatographic Separations Lab is seeking a Scientist I to specialize in the purification and characterization of radiolabeled and non-radiolabeled compounds. The Process Chemistry department within the Synthetic Molecules CMC Research and Development division is responsible for the scale-up of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) for use in preclinical and early clinical studies. The Chromatographic Separations lab collaborates with colleagues across multiple disciplines, offering expertise in preparative chromatography to support a broad range of AbbVie R&D programs. The lab maintains and utilizes specialized equipment for a variety separation tasks, including the purification of peptides, ADC drug-linkers, chiral, and radiolabeled compounds. The Radiochemistry group is a part of Process Chemistry and is responsible for preparing API with long half-life beta emitting labels to enable screening assays and metabolism studies to further the development of drug products. Experience in both preparative chromatography and radiochemistry are required.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's (+5 years of experience) or master's degree (+2 years of experience) in chemistry.
  • Experience in preparative chromatography, on-scale, in a GMP environment.
  • Experience working with radioactive materials (Beta emitters) including safety requirements and radiochemical purification and analytical characterization techniques are required.

  • Independently design and conduct critical experiments and generate reliable and consistent results that further project goals.
  • Consistently apply the appropriate process analytical technologies (PAT) to efficiently produce high-quality data.
  • Interpret results, draw conclusions, and propose or pursue relevant follow-up experiments.
  • Understand relevant scientific literature and apply theoretical framework to solving problems in a timely manner.
  • Understand and adhere to corporate standards for code of conduct, safety, material and radioactive compound handling, and GxP compliance.
