About The Position

ModeX Therapeutics is seeking a motivated scientist with experience in molecular biology. They will be part of a dynamic team focusing on developing innovative biotherapeutics for treating infectious diseases. The primary responsibilities of the position are to work with senior team members to design DNA constructs, produce proteins, maintain cell lines, perform biological assays, and coordinate CROs. Requirements

  • PhD with 0-1+ yrs industry experience in infectious disease, virology, molecular biology, protein biochemistry, or related field.
  • Knowledge and hands on experience in molecular cloning, cell culture and biological assays.
  • Protein purification experience.
  • Experience working with mammalian cells and good sterile technique.
  • Familiarity with the production and characterization of antibodies.
  • Excellent written and communication skills for collaborating with team members and presenting data.
  • Highly adaptable to a fast-paced work environment and can efficiently prioritize tasks and manage time.

Responsibilities

  • Support the molecular cloning pipeline, including DNA silico analysis, codon optimization, gene fragment assembly, cloning and production of transfection grade plasmids.
  • Transfection, expression, and purification of proteins from mammalian cells using endotoxin free methods.
  • Perform in vitro biochemical and biophysical characterizations of protein candidates, including techniques like ELISA, Octet, DLS, SDS-PAGE, and Western Blot.
  • Production of lentiviral based pseudovirus stocks.
  • Test activity of antibodies in pseudovirus neutralization assays.
  • Help design and coordinate studies with CROs.
  • Proficient in independently addressing and resolving experimental problems.
  • Exceptional organizational, technical, and troubleshooting skills, with keen attention to detail and sterile technique.
  • Careful and thorough recording of experimental data using an electronic lab notebook.
  • Analyze data using appropriate software and statistical methods, and clear reporting of results to the team.
  • Work both independently and collaboratively as part of a project team.
