The Drug Product Design and Development (DPDD) group at AbbVie is seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist to lead formulation design for small molecule development candidates. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to develop drug products for clinical evaluation and commercialization, focusing on solid oral dosage forms and parenteral formulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in formulation design, characterization, and process development, contributing to the advancement of AbbVie's pipeline.

  • Lead the formulation design for small molecule development candidates within the AbbVie pipeline.
  • Interface with drug product development teams to ensure incorporation of biopharmaceutical and physicochemical considerations into formulation design.
  • Advance scientific expertise within the function and demonstrate leadership by advising and sharing knowledge with peers and management.
  • Ensure development of technologies and scientific innovation that improve formulation capabilities for small molecules.
  • Collaborate with other functions within AbbVie to align on project goals and strategies.
  • Independently design and conduct critical experiments to further project goals.
  • Interpret results and draw conclusions from experiments, suggesting and pursuing relevant follow-up experiments.
  • Implement and innovate new experimental protocols as needed.
  • Understand relevant scientific literature and apply theoretical frameworks to solve problems in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate high proficiency in the field and maintain project goals.
  • Scientist I: MS (2+ years of experience) or BS (5+ years of experience); Scientist II: MS (5+ years of experience) or BS (7+ years of experience) in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering.
