About The Position

We are looking for a highly motivated scientist to join our Gastroenterology team in Discovery Research Immunology located in Cambridge, MA. The ideal candidate should be independently driven, highly collaborative, and results oriented. They will support in vitro efforts for our existing early-stage through late-stage discovery portfolio programs.

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in Immunology, Cell biology, or in a related discipline with expertise in immunology research, with typically 5+ (BS) or 2+ (MS) years of job-related experience.
  • Experience in in vitro human cell culture including various types of immune cells, and cell-based assay development is required.
  • Experience in human cell profiling by flow cytometry is required.
  • Experience in immunoassays using techniques like qPCR, ELISA, MSD and/or HTRF is required.
  • Ability to learn new skills and apply them in a fast-paced research environment is a must.
  • Creativity, problem-solving, and attention to details are required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and collaboration skills are required.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team is a must.
  • Proven flexibility to deal with changing timelines and shifting work priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in small molecule or biologic screening in human cells is preferred.
  • Experience in microscopy, organoid culture, and mammalian tissue ex vivo processing is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, optimize, and implement new methods/techniques as needed to generate reliable and reproducible data for new projects and biological questions in a timely manner.
  • Develop cell-based functional assays using cell lines, human primary cells, and mammalian blood/tissue-derived cells.
  • Conduct functional assays, including immune cell activation, differentiation and immune profiling, that further project goals.
  • Perform advanced molecular biology and cellular biology techniques (qPCR, flow cytometry, ELISA, MSD, HTRF).
  • Isolate immune cells from relevant human and mouse blood and tissues.
  • Work independently on the design, execution and interpretation of experimental results to validate hypotheses and help advance target identification and validation within GI immunology.
  • Analyze, interpret, document and present data concisely and rigorously, both to individual stakeholders and in group settings.
  • Demonstrate scientific excellence through dedication to multiple projects in a fast-paced multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Literature review for insights that aid experimental design and contribute ideas.
  • Impact projects mostly through wet lab-based activities.
  • Maintain organized electronic lab notebook of all study data and records.
