About The Position

As a Global Packaging Specification Scientist at McCain Foods, you will play a pivotal role in setting standards for packaging consistency, data quality, and regulatory compliance for our renowned frozen product portfolio—including Potato, Pizza, Meals, Vegetables, and Appetizers—served in retail, QSR, and food service channels worldwide. In this dynamic role, you will collaborate closely with regional packaging leads, Procurement, Quality, Manufacturing, and IT teams to guide, translate, and standardize specification requirements. You’ll leverage your expertise to champion system advancements, support global policy development, and inspire colleagues to explore innovative technical solutions within packaging data management. By leading the adoption of digital tools and global data standards, especially within our PLM platform, you’ll ensure packaging specifications are accurate, efficient, and ready to meet the demands of a fast-paced, evolving industry. Requirements

  • Associates degree in Packaging, Science, Engineering, IT or related field.
  • 2-5 Years of R&D experience in consumer goods, preferable food.
  • Technical knowledge in food packaging and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems and optimization.
  • Advanced computer skills; SAP experience valued.
  • Proven project management and influencing skills.
  • Knowledge of sustainable packaging and APCO Guidelines.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience in fast-paced, commercially driven environments.

Responsibilities

  • Global Specification Standards: Establish Global Standards for Packaging Specifications, such as standard business processes, data rules, and governance
  • Establish and Maintain documentation outlining global standards, including Standard Procedures and Training Materials as they relate to Packaging
  • Govern changes/enhancements to global standards and system
  • Monitor data quality and report to regional stakeholders in driving improvement plans
  • User Engagement and Training: Establish a global network of Packaging Specification SMEs in order to drive standards and efficiency
  • Responsible for determining training gaps and establish training programs to address these gaps
  • Engages users
  • Global Project Support: Support execution of global product launches and lift & shift by ensuring efficient sharing and adoption of packaging specifications across regions
  • Drive system requirements, data readiness and system design for the global management of packaging specifications
  • IT related Support: Provide technical documentation, report development, and enhancement support
  • Coordinate and execute user acceptance and regression testing utilizing ALM
  • Coordinate with global PLM Center of Expertise and IT to resolve system and report defects.
  • Collaborate with IT and external groups as a technical expert and point of contact for any packaging data mapping discussions
