About The Position

We are seeking a hands-on experimentalist to accelerate our next‑generation gene editing programs. In this role, you’ll design, execute, and analyze cell‑based editing experiments, primarily prime and base editing, while contributing broadly across molecular biology, tissue culture, and platform development. Title and scope will be calibrated to experience (Associate Scientist, Scientist, or Sr. Scientist)

Requirements

• BS or higher in a relevant field (we care more about your experience than your formal education)
• 2+ years of industry experience in biotechnology.
• Demonstrated gene editing experience with next‑generation platforms (prime and/or base editing).
• Strong molecular biology skills (e.g., cloning, PCR/qPCR, gel/amplicon prep).
• Proficiency in mammalian tissue culture, including sterile technique and basic cell‑based assays.

Nice To Haves

• Depth in one or more of the following:
• Single‑cell RNA‑seq (sample preparation, library construction, and/or data interpretation).
• Protein purification (chromatography techniques) and/or protein engineering (construct design, stability/activity optimization).
• Gene editing to generate animal models (design, screening, and validation in collaboration with in vivo teams).
• Previous experience in a startup environment (comfort with fast cycles, evolving priorities, and cross‑functional collaboration).

Responsibilities

• Plan, perform, and troubleshoot gene editing experiments (prime and base editing) in mammalian cells.
• Design guides, donors, and constructs; execute cloning, PCR/qPCR, and relevant molecular assays.
• Maintain and passage cell lines; perform transfection/electroporation; establish/edit stable cell pools or clones.
• Quantify and charactirize editing outcomes
• Optimize protocols (editing efficiency, specificity, off‑target assessment)
• Contribute to lab operations (ordering, inventory, equipment maintenance, EHS compliance) to keep a high‑functioning lab running.
• Stretch opportunities (based on experience/interest): single‑cell transcriptomics sample prep/analysis, protein purification/engineering to support editor delivery/activity, and gene editing to generate animal models in partnership with in vivo teams.
