About The Position
The Scientist-Chemistry position at the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) involves working at the Institute for Food Safety and Health (IFSH) in collaboration with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This role is situated at the Moffett Campus of IIT and is part of the joint Proficiency Testing program, which is accredited under ISO17043 standards. The Scientist will be responsible for addressing complex scientific inquiries and resolving issues related to methods and instruments used in the laboratory. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work with minimal supervision. In addition to responding to scientific queries, the Scientist will take a lead role in drafting scientific papers and presentations, contributing to the dissemination of research findings and advancements in food safety and health. The role demands a high level of attention to detail, particularly in the documentation of scientific notebooks and papers, ensuring compliance with laboratory standards and protocols. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate strong software skills, particularly in Microsoft Word and Excel, to effectively manage data and documentation. This position is full-time and offers an opportunity to engage in meaningful research that impacts food safety and public health, working within a collaborative and accredited laboratory environment.
