Requirements

  • Chemistry degree with laboratory experience.
  • Working knowledge of a broad range of general laboratory operations.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, technical and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer operations, Microsoft office suite and troubleshooting preferred but not required.
  • Ability to generate respect and trust from staff, internal customers, external auditors and manage multiple priorities under strict deadlines.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Physical or Applied Science
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of EPA, NRC, OSHA and other national, state and local regulatory agency requirements.
  • Good communication skills to comprehend, follow direction and convey detailed technical data.
  • Ability to develop and maintain good interpersonal relationships; work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Good problem identification and problem resolution skills with emphasis on 'root cause' analysis.
  • Exhibits questioning attitude and practices self-checking.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of a LIMS system (preferable Thermo Fisher SampleManager) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of basic wet chemistry and instrumental analysis techniques is preferred.
  • Knowledge of at least one (1) of the following types of instrumentation is preferred with the ability to identify issues, trouble shoot, and work with others to resolve instrumentation issues: ICP-MS; ICP-OES; and Ion Chromatography Instrumentation.
  • Previous work in an environmental laboratory is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures personal and workplace compliance with company and regulatory agency policies that protect employee and public health and safety.
  • Interprets results, prepares reports, and provides technical advice in specialized area.
  • Provides client input regarding the use of scientific analysis and processes.
  • Works on special projects, as directed.
  • Performs work to specification and procedural requirements.
  • Performs design tasks that include supporting the design of a system, evaluating a proposed design and evaluating the operation of a nuclear facility.
