About The Position

Eurofins USA PSS Insourcing Solutions is seeking a Scientist – Biocatalysis & Enzymatic Process Development to support a client‑based research program in applied biocatalysis. In this role, you will leverage enzymatic transformations to prepare chiral intermediates and optimize reaction conditions that accelerate chemical and process development. The successful candidate will take ownership of research projects under the guidance of subject matter experts, contribute to method and process optimization, and generate high‑quality scientific documentation while adhering to laboratory safety and compliance standards.

Requirements

  • PhD in Chemistry, Biocatalysis, Biochemistry, or a closely related scientific discipline is required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to evolving project priorities and timelines
  • Highly self‑motivated, organized, detail‑oriented, and proactive in problem‑solving

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of laboratory experience in biocatalysis, enzyme‑catalyzed reactions, enzyme kinetics, protein engineering, photo‑biocatalysis, fermentation, enzyme immobilization, or assay development (preferred but not required)
  • Hands‑on experience with analytical techniques and instrumentation such as HPLC/UPLC, GC, Karl Fischer, NMR, and MS
  • Experience with chromatography and chiral separations is a plus
  • Familiarity with pharmaceutical development environments and cGMP principles is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Execute enzymatic reactions to synthesize chiral intermediates and isolate high‑purity products
  • Optimize biocatalytic reactions for efficiency, selectivity, and scalability
  • Develop and implement enzyme activity assays and kinetic evaluations
  • Perform high‑throughput experimentation, including enzyme plate preparation and enzyme immobilization on solid supports
  • Conduct chiral and analytical characterization using UPLC and GC, and structural confirmation using NMR and MS
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data with scientific rigor
  • Maintain accurate and compliant electronic laboratory notebook (ELN) records
  • Prepare experimental protocols, technical reports, and presentations for internal stakeholders
  • Perform routine laboratory equipment maintenance and support general laboratory operations as needed
  • Follow all safety, compliance, and quality procedures in the laboratory environment
