About The Position

Advanced Technologies and Laboratories (ATL), a Planned Systems International (PSI) company, is hiring for a Scientist in Richland, WA. This position will support Navarro-ATL. Navarro-ATL is located in Richland, WA and operates, manages, and maintains the 222-S Laboratory Complex for the Department of Energy. Navarro-ATL members are Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc. (Oak Ridge, TN), and Advanced Technologies and Laboratories International (Gaithersburg, MD). Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities Responsible for conducting scientific and/or analytical studies in support of 222-S Laboratory operations and developing conventional scientific solutions to technical task activities and objectives. Performs a variety of scientific duties including, but not limited to: waste and environmental analysis, process control support and data quality, performing and/or reviewing scientific calculations/analyses, and preparing specifications, reports, and data tables. Collaborate with other technical staff to devise new approaches to scientific problems. May serve as a lead by directing the analytical activities of Technicians. Under limited to general supervision: Perform technical data reviews and prepare project summary reports. Ensure operational status of analytical equipment by maintaining calibrations and troubleshooting instrument malfunctions and data quality issues. Develop new methods and conduct method qualification studies. Participate in inter-laboratory proficiency study programs, audits, and assessments to maintain method accreditation. Provide daily work direction and training to chemical Operate under strict deadlines. Plan, organize, and manage activities in assigned areas to meet Laboratory and client schedules. Author and perform reviews and systematic process improvements for assigned methods, procedures, and test Commitment to analytical excellence and unwavering ethics. Act as technical authority for isotopic separation processes. Assist technical staff with questions on isotopic separation and counting processes. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Grade 16: Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Chemistry or related scientific discipline and 2 years of directly related experience.
  • Knowledgeable of laboratory analytical
  • Exhibit strong writing skills.
  • Experience with radiochemical separation techniques.

Nice To Haves

  • Grade 18: Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Chemistry or related scientific discipline and 7 years of directly related experience, including radiochemical separations and/or nuclear counting equipment operation experience.
  • Demonstrated scientific communication skills and knowledge of laboratory operations and quality assurance practices.
  • Strong skills using Microsoft Office programs (particularly Word and Excel).
  • Demonstrated scientific knowledge of radiochemical separation methods.
  • Nuclear facility operations experience.
