About The Position

We are seeking a high-potential individual with an expertise in analytical chemistry, chemical process development, and liquid chromatography with experience in both small molecules and macromolecules/polymers a plus. The candidate is expected to develop, validate, and perform a variety of laboratory techniques and processes to help enable innovation, new product development, technology development, failure investigations, etc. This position will challenge the individual with complex materials science and chemistry related opportunities. The successful candidate will possess an intermediate level of knowledge/understanding of analytical chemistry and process development, be an innovative thinker capable of innovating chemistry solutions, and understand the theory and practice of analytical chemistry, liquid chromatography, and preferably polymer properties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree + 2 years, Master’s degree + 1 year, or PhD in chemistry, biomedical engineering, or a related field
  • Experience that includes chemical characterization, method development, or biology lab work
  • Experience and understanding of organic chemistry and synthesis
  • Ability to use and adapt analytical techniques creatively to come up with innovative testing solutions

Responsibilities

  • Work under the general direction of an R&D Manager
  • Work independently and as part of a team to develop, validate, and perform a variety of laboratory methods, focused particularly on liquid chromatography and chemical process development
  • Use supplemental techniques such as Design of Experiments (DOE) as part of this work
  • Help maintain the laboratory facility in working order by troubleshooting instruments, talking to manufacturers, planning laboratory equipment acquisition strategy, and maintaining compliance
  • Perform testing and write findings into technical reports
  • Partner with R&D colleagues and associates from other departments on product development, project planning, platform support, failure investigations, and other activities when required
  • Help plan and manage lab workflow
  • Strive to remain current in the field and related technology developments
