About The Position

The Scientific Publications Director at Exelixis Inc is responsible for collaborating with Medical Communications Management to plan and execute strategic publication plans for pipeline molecules and marketed products. This role involves developing scientific communication statements, managing the creation of scientific abstracts, presentations, and manuscripts, and ensuring compliance with publication standards.

Requirements

  • Doctorate level degree (PharmD, MD, PhD) with a minimum of eight years of related experience, or a Master's level degree with eleven years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Oncology experience highly preferred.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical/biotech business is required.
  • Experience with publication development, writing, and management for medical publications is required.
  • Experience with clinical trial design and interpretation of scientific data is preferred.
  • Understanding of pharmaceutical/biotech business and adherence to regulations and guidelines.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with clinical and medical affairs communication channels.
  • Familiarity with health care compliance principles.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to strategic, operational and tactical publication planning for assigned Exelixis pipeline molecules and products.
  • Develop scientific platforms, statements, and lexicons for publications.
  • Manage the development and submission of medical and scientific publications in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Write and revise abstracts, posters, and journal publications as needed.
  • Evaluate clinical trial data and literature to ensure accurate publication content.
  • Adhere to Exelixis SOPs and promote Good Publication Practice standards.
  • Manage publication and writing vendors as necessary.
  • Collaborate with Medical Affairs to support functional area deliverables.
  • Attend scientific conferences to present Exelixis' scientific evidence and enhance therapeutic knowledge.
  • Stay updated on the evolving publications landscape through professional engagement.
