About The Position

Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory has multiple openings for a Scientific Engineering Associate in Berkeley, CA. Duties: Advanced method development on Hamilton Robotic platforms. Apply technical, scientific, and engineering principles to evaluate manual laboratory work protocols/process and develop and optimize automated work processes. Calibrate and operate a variety of electronic components, devices, instruments, equipment, or systems. Gather feedback and requirements and analyze data to make recommendations. Work independently and make decisions during shift work without additional support. Troubleshoot automated platforms. Participate in engineering and process improvement projects to gain operational efficiencies such as reductions in project cycle time, cost, and labor time. Serve as an additional subject matter expert for the lab automation. Respond to automation-based work requests in the JIRA ticketing system and apply good documentation practices when closing work orders. Collaborate with vendors for support and troubleshooting of equipment as well as building and maintaining relationships. Work with other engineers and vendors to execute the assembly, qualification, validation, and deployment of new and incoming automation instruments. Write standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and knowledge base articles. Assist the lab manager with general lab maintenance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, or related field and 2 years of experience in job offered or related occupation.
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the U.S. at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
