Liberation Academy is seeking a passionate, dynamic, and equity-focused STEM Teacher to join our dedicated team. The ideal candidate will inspire students to engage deeply with science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through culturally relevant, project-based learning that connects classroom content to real-world challenges and social justice issues. We are looking for an educator who is committed to fostering a supportive, inclusive, and rigorous learning environment where every student can see themselves as a capable innovator and problem-solver.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • A passion for being a part of a team-oriented, mission-driven school culture.
  • Pass Criminal Background Check.
  • Demonstrated commitment to closing the opportunity gap.
  • By the time that employment begins, all teachers in our schools must meet certification requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant STEM field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics) or Education with a specialization in STEM.
  • Certified to teach middle grades math or science.
  • Previous experience in the field of computer science.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver engaging, project-based, and interdisciplinary STEM instruction aligned with national standards (e.g., NGSS) and Liberation Academy’s educational philosophy.
  • Integrate culturally responsive pedagogy and social justice principles into all lessons, making STEM relevant to students' lives and communities.
  • Develop academically rigorous lessons, unit plans, rubrics, and assessments.
  • Use data to inform instructional decisions.
  • Differentiate instruction to ensure that all students are progressing.
  • In conjunction with Exceptional Education Teachers, work to ensure that all IEPs and student needs are met both within and outside of the classroom.
  • Embody and maintain school’s values, policies, and culture.
  • Develop positive relationships with students, families, teachers, staff, and community members.
  • Establish and maintain strong communication with all families and share progress.
  • Show up for critical school events, including staff meetings, open houses, parent-teacher conferences, and more.
  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and is developmentally appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Pursue challenging professional goals each year.
  • Give and receive positive and constructive feedback with your colleagues.
  • Participate in school-wide and individual professional development.
  • Be prepared to do whatever it takes for all students to learn and grow.
