About The Position

The Science Teacher serves as an instructional leader responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing high-quality science instruction aligned to state standards. This role involves supporting students' academic, social, and emotional growth while contributing to a positive school culture. The teacher collaborates with colleagues, engages families, and uses data to drive instructional decisions and improve student outcomes.

  • Valid Missouri teaching certification appropriate to the grade level and/or subject area.
  • Demonstrated content knowledge in science.

Nice To Haves

  • Two to four years of classroom teaching experience preferred.
  • Experience in an urban school setting preferred.
  • Bilingual (English required; Spanish preferred) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and continuously refine science curriculum in collaboration with colleagues and administration.
  • Plan and deliver standards-aligned instruction using effective instructional strategies and differentiated approaches to meet diverse student needs.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of grade-level standards, benchmarks, and science content.
  • Design and administer balanced assessments; use formative and summative data to inform instruction and provide timely, actionable feedback to students.
  • Monitor student progress, set goals, and adjust instruction to ensure student growth and achievement.
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, strengths, and areas for growth.
  • Build positive, respectful relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Model and uphold the school’s mission, values, policies, and culture.
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and engaging classroom environment that supports student learning and appropriate behavior.
  • Collaborate with colleagues through team meetings, instructional planning, peer observations, and data analysis.
  • Participate actively in professional development, staff meetings, and school-wide initiatives.
  • Attend and contribute to meetings related to student support, including Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 Plans.
  • Implement required accommodations and modifications for students with special needs.
  • Demonstrate cultural competence and responsiveness to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Support school activities, programs, and, when applicable, extracurricular opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
