About The Position

St. Charles Preparatory School, located at 2010 E. Broad Street in Columbus, is seeking a proactive and principled individual as Science Teacher to start the 2026-27 school year. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Broad knowledge of the branches of science: Biology, Chemistry, and Physics Thorough knowledge of mathematics through Algebra 2 Experience with Advanced Placement coursework preferred Familiarity with current science instructional texts Some familiarity with current systems of research and citation desired Experience in developing rubrics and grading Experience in developing and executing collaborative learning projects Experience in conducting labs preferred Facility in use of SIS and SMS Facility with turnitin.com and other detection services To assist students in mastering the skills and information in the school curriculum while helping them to grow in faith and responsibility. Teachers in the Catholic Schools of the Diocese of Columbus know, understand and contribute to the integration of Catholic teachings and virtues throughout the curriculum and school culture as it supports faith formation and student learning. Teachers understand student learning, development, and faith formation while respecting the diversity of students. Teachers know and understand the content for which they have instructional responsibility. Teachers understand and use varied assessments to inform instruction, evaluate and ensure student learning Teachers plan and deliver effective instruction that advances the learning of each individual student. Teachers create Christ-centered learning environments that promote high levels of learning and achievement for all students. Teachers collaborate and communicate with students, parents, other educators, administrators and the faith community to support student development, learning and faith. Teachers assume responsibility for their professional academic/spiritual growth, performance, and involvement as an individual and as a member of a Catholic learning community.

Requirements

  • Ohio Education Teaching License, certification grades 7-12
  • Certification for instruction in high-school Religion
  • Compliance with BCI-background checks and completion of Protecting God’s Children program.
  • Appropriate state certification/license: as required by the grade levels and subjects taught
  • Religious Education certification as required by the diocese

Nice To Haves

  • Catholic Preferred but Not Required
  • Experience with Advanced Placement coursework preferred
  • Familiarity with current science instructional texts
  • Some familiarity with current systems of research and citation desired
  • Previous experience working in the educational setting is desired.
  • Master’s degree preferred
