About The Position

The position involves creating a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the academic and emotional development of students. The teacher will conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing, manage student behavior in accordance with the student handbook, and establish open communication with parents and students through conferences. Responsibilities also include compiling, maintaining, and filing all reports and records, attending departmental and campus meetings, participating in professional development training, and supporting the department's educational efforts using digital resources and innovative teaching practices designed for all-male learning. The teacher is expected to be a lifelong learner, open to self-reflection and feedback to improve teaching skills, and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree with 24 credit hours in the primary content taught or successful completion of appropriate state certification exam
  • A valid Texas Teacher’s Certificate, or 12 credit hours in education courses
  • Technology Proficiency (word processing, spreadsheets, databases, multimedia presentations, and internet use for educational purposes)

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree (preferred)
  • Three or more years teaching high school (preferred)
  • Demonstrated competency in the content area and a vibrant passion for forming students
  • Demonstrated proficiency in technology integration/application in the content area
  • Strong organizational, communication, technology, and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the academic and emotional development of students
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with the student handbook
  • Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents and students
  • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other required documents
  • Attend departmental and other campus meetings as directed
  • Attend professional development training
  • Support department's educational efforts using digital resources and innovative teaching practices
  • Be a lifelong learner and open to self-reflection and feedback
  • Perform other duties as assigned
