The Science Program Presenter is a part-time role responsible for coordinating and presenting engaging science programs to visitors of all ages at the Sugar Sand Park Community Center. This position involves delivering demonstrations, overseeing exhibit maintenance, and ensuring a positive learning experience for the public. The role requires flexibility in scheduling, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays, as well as evening events twice a month.

  • Present science programs, including demonstrations and tours emphasizing science concepts.
  • Interact with visitors to help them explore and learn from exhibits.
  • Provide general oversight of the exhibit hall, including record keeping and routine exhibit maintenance.
  • Prepare facilities and equipment for programs, including cleaning and storage.
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent education.
  • Coursework in physical science or related educational experience.
  • Experience working with the public and/or children.
  • Public speaking experience preferred.
  • Possession of a valid State of Florida Class 'E' driver's license with no more than six points in a three-year period.
  • Experience in public speaking or presenting educational programs.
  • Background in physical science or related fields.
  • Paid Leave for employees who work a minimum of 1,040 hours per fiscal year.
  • Eligibility to participate in the 457 Deferred Compensation Plan after working a minimum of 1,040 hours per fiscal year.
