About The Position

This position is responsible for the management of teaching laboratories for natural and physical science classes.

Requirements

• Baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to Biology or Chemistry.
• Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with three years of experience or service.
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

Responsibilities

• Prepares supplies, solutions, and equipment for teaching laboratories at on- and off-campus sites.
• Orders supplies and equipment; maintains supply and equipment inventory.
• Enforces laboratory safety guidelines.
• Oversees the collection and disposal of generated hazardous waste.
• Assists with campus environmental health and safety functions.
• Coordinates the work hours of student laboratory assistants.
• Develops, publishes and updates laboratory safety procedures.
• Inspects equipment on a regular basis; cleans and repairs equipment; coordinates equipment repair with service providers as needed.
• Devises and implements a system for labeling laboratory materials.
• Manages laboratory budgets.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
