About the position
The Science Lab Technician II - Biology at Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District plays a crucial role in supporting the Biology Department by maintaining laboratory environments, assisting in budget preparation, and caring for various biological cultures and animals. This position is essential for ensuring that the lab facilities are clean, organized, and equipped for educational purposes, contributing to the overall mission of providing high-quality education in the sciences.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the maintenance of the animal house, lath house, greenhouse, exhibit areas, and other storage facilities.
- Dust, clean, and disinfect all surfaces and equipment as necessary.
- Assist the Biology Technician, Senior in preparing the annual department budget by researching budget requests and monitoring expenditures.
- Regularly care for animals kept in the animal house, labs, or prep areas.
- Maintain or raise cultures of protozoa, insects, brine shrimp, etc.
Requirements
- Two years of college-level coursework in a related science discipline.
- Two years of experience in a science laboratory.
