Summary: The Science Education Digital Asset Coordinator supports the BioInteractive program by helping create and manage high-quality educational media used by students and educators around the world. The Coordinator works with a multidisciplinary team to organize and maintain digital assets, ensure accurate permissions and documentation, and contribute to post-production workflows. This role serves as the primary point of contact for Science Education’s Digital Asset Management system and related platforms, providing day-to-day oversight to ensure that media resources are well structured, discoverable, and prepared for long-term use while managing select distribution platforms and collaborating within established worksflows across other media platforms administered by partner teams. This role reports to the Manager, Operations and Video Productions, and follows a hybrid schedule of three days in person at our Headquarters in Chevy Chase, Maryland. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or combination of education and professional experience
  • Minimum two years of experience working with digital asset management systems.
  • Proficient in using DAM/MAM systems for organizing and retrieving digital assets, and comfortable learning new technologies and software as needed.
  • Experience supporting media workflows, file management, and project coordination.
  • Ability to manage and convert files across formats, with a basic understanding of video acquisition formats, frame rates, and codecs.
  • Familiarity with media licensing and rights management practices, such as Creative Commons, or an interest in learning this area.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic proficiency with video editing tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro is a plus.
  • Basic proficiency with graphic design tools such as Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Digital Asset Management: Provide day-to-day oversight of the organization, tagging, and maintenance of the Digital Asset Management (DAM) system.
  • Develop and implement metadata schemas, naming conventions, and archiving workflows.
  • Maintain permissions logs, clear usage rights, and respond to internal/external permissions inquiries.
  • Search for and organize media assets across internal and external platforms.
  • Train team members on DAM usage and manage the department’s YouTube and Vimeo channels, ensuring media assets are properly prepared, published, and aligned with established workflows and standards.
  • Media Editing & Post-Production: Perform minor video and image editing using Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, or similar tools.
  • Support post-production tasks, including the creation of logs, scripts, transcripts, and closed captions.
  • Assist video file organization and asset tracking within a Media Asset Management system, working in coordination with platform owners and established worksflows.
  • Use tools such as Frame.io, WeTransfer, Massive, and stock licensing platforms to support media transfers, file organization, and project coordination, working alongside system administrators.
  • Media Production Support: Help manage post-production schedules for video updates and language customization.
  • Support internal production tasks and publication of media assets and video resources.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
