About The Position
This position serves Horry County as a South Carolina Highway Patrol Law Enforcement First Line Supervisor. The role involves patrolling and enforcing S.C. motor vehicle traffic laws on streets and highways, as well as enforcing other criminal laws of the state as necessary. The supervisor assumes the duties of the Squad Leader in the absence of the Post Sergeant(s) as directed. Responsibilities include supervising officers to ensure compliance with standard operating procedures, reviewing activity reports, collision investigation reports, citations, and other documentation prepared by troopers to verify legibility, completeness, and accuracy. The supervisor also assists subordinates in the presentation and prosecution of criminal and traffic court cases, provides periodic job performance reviews, and counseling as appropriate. Additionally, the supervisor assists in utilizing selective enforcement data to determine personnel assignment needs and schedules, prepares daily schedules and work assignments, and monitors the proper maintenance of department-issued equipment.
