Job Title: School’s Out Counselor, Level 2 Location: District/Assigned School’s Out Location Job Group: Non-Union Support Staff/School’s Out Pay Level: Non-Exempt, Grade 5 Reports To: School’s Out Site Director Summary: Responsible for assisting a site-specific School’s Out Site Director in planning, supervising, and delivering programmed activities.

Requirements

  • HS diploma.
  • Two or more years of successful experience in a school, childcare, or customer service setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of disabilities, laws, teaching principles and methods, and instructional programming is helpful.
  • Certified in First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), and Second Step.
  • Trained in Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form is required.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the daily operation of the afterschool program by:
  • Interacting with students, staff, parents, and the school community in a constructive manner to create a positive, and welcoming learning environment.
  • Providing general supervision to students.
  • Ensures guidelines for participation, inclusion, conduct, and discipline are followed to maintain a safe, enjoyable, learning environment.
  • Monitoring student transitions and dismissal from activities.
  • Serving as a liaison and maintaining relationships with students, school administrators, parents/guardians, volunteers, and community members.
  • Assists with the coordination and supervision of students during monthly field trips.
  • Attends meetings as needed.
  • Providing regular feedback to the Site Director about activities, recommended actions, needs, concerns, and highlights.
  • Reports incidents involving students and/or staff immediately to the School’s Out Site Director and/or Assistant Program Administrator
  • Assist the Site Director in administrative processes including, but not limited to: attendance, data collection and entry, training staff, communications, activity planning, and performing enrollment procedures.
  • May mentor Level 1 or Youth Volunteer/Leader in training employees.
  • Participates in training and professional development, as determined appropriate, by the School’s Out Assistant Program Administrator.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
