The Integrated PreK classroom consists of fifteen students from ages three to five. There are seven students with disabilities and eight typically developing peers role models. One teacher who is dually licensed in Special Education and Early Childhood as well as a paraprofessional. LPS has both half-day and full day integrated programs. The classroom teacher will implement the LPS Early Childhood Curriculum while making the appropriate accommodations/modifications for the student with disabilities as well as incorporating any recommendations made by the related service providers. The educator is the primary instructional delivery person in the classroom. Student achievement and growth are primarily dependent on the work and efforts of the classroom teacher. The position is demanding, varied and complex. The classroom teacher must be a relationship builder, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be well trained in content knowledge and teaching strategies.
