About The Position

Nexus Family Healing-Woodbourne Campus is looking to hire a School Therapist. Woodbourne Campus is located on a historic site in the heart of Baltimore, Maryland, that has been helping kids in need for over 200 years, originally as an orphanage in the early 1800s. In 2012, Nexus Family Healing affiliated with location, bringing our innovative trauma-informed practices to the youth of Baltimore. Nexus-Woodbourne is seeking a School Therapist that will play a vital role in helping students thrive emotionally, socially, and academically. Position Summary: Provide and document therapeutic services to students according to the goals and objectives identified in each student’s Individualized Education Plan.

Requirements

  • 2+ years’ experience working with youth and/or families
  • Master’s degree in social work, psychology or clinically related field and license to provide therapy or counseling in the State of Maryland required.
  • Maintain First Aid/CPR/Infection Control/Blood Bourne Pathogen/Safe Crisis Management required.
  • Valid driver’s license required. Must meet state regulating agency and Home Office driving requirements

Responsibilities

  • Provide therapeutic services according to the goals and objectives identified in each student’s Individualized Education Plan.
  • Render individual, group, and other services as identified based on the minimum weekly amount required by the IEP.
  • Plan and conduct group sessions with students to meet IEP goals.
  • Complete additional classroom observations reports for Related Service Counseling to justify need for special education students.
  • Educate School staff and treatment team members in the understanding of the student’s educational needs.
  • Regularly assess the student’s educational progress with the student, the student’s family and LEA, and the clinical treatment team; communicate respectfully and professionally with students and family at all times.
  • Actively participate in IEP meetings and case conferences as needed; collaborate effectively with Nexus team to problem solve and toward and achieve shared goals and outcomes.
  • Be available on-call for consultation/treatment direction and/or decisions when appropriate.
  • Develop healthy working relationships with coworkers, employees and youth and families; demonstrate a high degree of conduct, integrity and professionalism while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
  • Communicate with legal systems, schools and social service agencies and provide court testimony when necessary.
  • Complete and compile documentation required by Nexus and governing agencies.
  • Maintain the educational record according to site policy.
  • Produce informal and formal reports for parents, social workers, courts, etc.
  • Review documentation from group living and classroom.
  • Participate in follow-up data.
  • Maintain accurate database and files of former and current students in special education in accordance with federal and MSDE regulations.
  • Follow procedures for safe storing and integrity of all confidential student records, ensuring that student record keeping procedures comply with state and federal law.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and remain current on all required training sessions. Attend relevant conferences for continued education. Understand and support the Nexus philosophy and treatment modalities
  • Understand, remain current and apply Nexus policies and procedures.
  • Ensure confidentiality regarding students in compliance with all licensing agencies, MSDE, company policy, Joint Commission, and HIPAA guidelines.
  • Assist with other job-related duties, as assigned.
