About The Position

The School Support Paraeducator position at Northwood Elementary is designed to provide workload relief for the 2024-2025 school year. The role involves monitoring students on school grounds, enforcing rules, ensuring a safe environment, and reporting behavioral incidents to the principal or teacher. Additionally, the paraeducator may assist with instructional materials and perform other assigned duties. The position requires working 4.25 hours per day from 11:30 AM to 3:45 PM, Monday through Friday, including 15 minutes of coordination time. This is a 190-day calendar position, and the rate of pay is based on PESPA Level 2.

Requirements

• Must be at least eighteen years of age
• Hold a high school diploma or its equivalent
• Hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university, or
• Earn 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher from an accredited college or university, or
• Score 455 or higher on the ParaPro Assessment (ETS), or
• Score 220 or higher on the Pearson Paraprofessional assessment, or
• Score 65% or higher on The Master Teacher Inc. Paraeducator Online Training Program, or
• Complete an apprenticeship as a paraeducator in a program registered with the Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Council

Nice To Haves

• Completion of the state-mandated General Paraeducator Certificate
• Completion of 28 hours of training on the Fundamental Course of Study provided by the district
