About The Position

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our multidisciplinary team. The SLP will be responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating communication disorders in students. This includes supporting receptive and expressive language development, social communication skills, articulation, and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). TThe ideal candidate will be collaborative and familiar with behavior-based approaches, including prompt-based therapy techniques, and will work closely with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure consistent and effective support.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree or higher in Speech Language Pathology.
  • Current NYS certification in good standing.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a school or clinical setting, preferably working with neurodiverse student populations.
  • Proficiency in AAC systems and knowledge of school-based communication supports.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, and school staff.
  • Flexible, compassionate, and committed to student-centered, inclusive practices.
  • Engaged in ongoing professional development and current with best practices in speech language pathology and school-based services.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with feeding therapy and prompt-based techniques strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assessment & Planning: Conduct comprehensive speech, language, and feeding evaluations to identify individual student needs.
  • Develop individualized goals as part of each student’s IEP in collaboration with school-based teams.
  • Recommend and implement appropriate therapeutic strategies, including AAC and prompt-based interventions when appropriate.
  • Therapeutic Interventions: Provide direct speech-language services in individual and small group settings in accordance with IEPs.
  • Address expressive/receptive language, articulation, voice, fluency, pragmatic language, and AAC.
  • Incorporate prompt-based therapy techniques as appropriate to support communication development.
  • Provide support for feeding challenges, including oral-motor skill development and safe feeding strategies under the guidance of appropriate clinical protocols.
  • Adapt and generalize therapeutic interventions to the classroom and daily school environment.
  • Data Collection & Reporting Maintain accurate documentation of therapy sessions, evaluations, progress reports, and communication logs.
  • Track and report on student progress in alignment with IEP timelines.
  • Ensure compliance with all school and regulatory requirements regarding speech-language services.
  • Collaboration & Communication Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and support staff to integrate communication strategies into instructional routines.
  • Provide training and consultation to staff on AAC use, speech-language strategies, and feeding support.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and team planning sessions to align therapy goals with educational programming.
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and recommendations for home-based support.
