Enhance the educational programs of individuals by assisting in identification assessment and support of their educational needs including social, emotional, behavioral and adaptive needs. Operate within a multidisciplinary team that serves students with disabilities. Conduct data based Functional Behavior Assessments, collaboratively develop Behavior Intervention Plans and support fidelity in implementation. Provide disability related group and individual counseling with students utilizing evidence-based approaches. Serve as liaison between home, school and community. Keep current with issues, techniques and future trends in the field of school social work. Provide leadership and support for students with disabilities who are not making progress behaviorally. Coordinate team consultation with the Des Moines Training Team. Facilitate referrals between school, community resources and families. Manage Medicaid billing. Provide consultation to school personnel and parents on issues related to social/emotional health. Conduct training for parents and school staff. Assist building administrators in addressing attendance and suspension issues. Advocate for the human and civil rights of students. Conduct home visits as necessary. Attend work on a prompt and regular basis. Maintain confidentiality. Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public, students, and other employees. Assist with other duties as may be assigned.
