About The Position

School Social Worker – Part Time – Day Shift Cedar Park Group is hiring a School Social Worker for Taos Day School in Taos, New Mexico. This part-time opportunity is ideal for an experienced social worker who is passionate about supporting K–8 students with IEPs and helping them navigate social, emotional, behavioral, and academic challenges in a structured school setting. The School Social Worker will work closely with students, families, teachers, and multidisciplinary teams to help ensure students receive the support and services they need to succeed. Schedule / Shift Part-time Up to 20 hours per week Core school hours: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM Aligned with the school’s 180-day academic calendar No work during school closures, holidays, or extended breaks Approximately 656 hours annually, subject to change based on student needs Position Overview The School Social Worker will provide services to special education students with Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in accordance with IDEA requirements. This role includes direct student support, evaluations, participation in IEP meetings, collaboration with educators and families, and ongoing documentation and progress monitoring. The ideal candidate will be comfortable supporting students with mild to moderate needs and helping develop strategies that improve classroom participation, emotional regulation, and academic success.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or higher in Social Work from an accredited institution
  • Active School Social Worker licensure (Pre K–12) in the State of New Mexico
  • Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) certification in New Mexico
  • Minimum one year of experience providing school-based social work services
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must pass a Bureau of Indian Education background investigation prior to starting
  • Must complete required federal security and reporting training
  • Must maintain compliance with FERPA, Privacy Act, and all applicable federal confidentiality requirements
  • Must submit all required personnel documentation, including resume, licenses, and credentials
  • Must provide a signed letter of commitment confirming availability for the duration of the contract

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in schools on Native American reservations
  • Experience with Bureau of Indian Education schools or Native American student populations
  • Experience working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and families

Responsibilities

  • Provide school social work services to students as outlined in IEPs in accordance with IDEA requirements
  • Work directly with general and special education teachers to support accommodations and service implementation
  • Conduct student screenings, evaluations, and prepare reports for IEP team review
  • Participate in IEP meetings and provide recommendations on goals, services, and student progress
  • Deliver one-on-one and small group support to students with social-emotional and behavioral needs
  • Support students with emotional regulation, behavior, and classroom participation
  • Coordinate care with families and outside agencies to support student needs
  • Provide workshops and education to staff, parents, and the community on student challenges
  • Maintain service logs, documentation, and progress monitoring records
  • Assist with the development and implementation of social work and mental health components of IEPs
