About The Position

The School Social Worker will work to enhance students’ educational progress. This person will provide counseling, instruction, consultation, collaboration, assessments and monitoring services for LIU and/or district designated students, their families and the staff who support them. The School Social Worker will help students benefit from their educational program. The services of the School Social Worker are delivered as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

Requirements

  • Prior to August 1, 2026 , applicants must meet the following criteria:
  • Hold an active Pennsylvania license as a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
  • Master’s degree in Social Work
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in Social Work or related field
  • Effective August 1, 2026 , all individuals employed as a School Social Worker must meet one of the following:
  • Hold a valid and active Pennsylvania School Social Worker Educational Specialist Certificate; or
  • Work under an emergency permit and be willing to enroll in a PDE-approved School Social Worker preparation program, and
  • Hold a current LSW or LCSW license.
  • To obtain certification after August 1, 2026, candidates must successfully complete an approved School Social Worker preparation program through a college or university and apply for certification through the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE).
